Applications are invited for post-doctoral fellowship at the Division for Diagnostics & Scientific advice at the National Veterinary Institute at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Vet). The position is full time and available immediately.
Responsibilities and tasks
The project concerns the structure and function of the microbial envelope and its role in antimicrobial resistance evolution with a particular focus on antimicrobial peptides. The position includes hands on experimental research, teaching and supervision of students.
The position requires a PhD in a relevant field such as molecular microbiology or bioengineering and that the applicant has an excellent academic track record with hands-on research experience.
You have to be able to work independently, think creatively and be dedicated to produce scientific knowledge at the highest level.
A strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbial genetics, or genetic engineering in bacterial model systems is essential. Moreover, experience within at least one of the fields of experimental evolution, antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistance is required. In depth experience with multiplexed barcode sequencing, MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry, flow cytometry, and in vivo experimental models is an advantage. Moreover, the successful candidate will need documented experience of student supervision and experience with collaborative projects in an international research environment.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 2 years (with the possibility of an extension).

DTU Vet performs studies of serious animal diseases caused by bacteria and parasites in animals, livestock, fish and game (wild animals). In addition, the section develops tools for management and control of infectious diseases. The research primarily revolves around non-food-borne bacteria, which can spread from animals to humans and cause illness (zoonoses), and on fish bacteriology. The focus is on the interaction between the host and the pathogenic microorganism.
